Online Safety Policy
Here at The Library Of Nature the safety of the children using our website and its associated activities are of the upmost importance to us.
In this policy we will outline the ways in which we work to ensure our website is safe for everyone involved. These are:
Safeguarding
Everyone who works in a capacity where they have contact with people under 18 years old holds a DBS check and is registered on the update system.
We do not post or share any images that show the faces of children under 18 years old.
We do not share artwork that includes the surnames of people who are under 18 years old.
We do not communicate directly online through emails or platforms such as Facebook Messanger or Instagram Direct Message with anyone who is under 18 years old.
No personal details such as names and addresses of people under 18 are stored on our website or online marketing database.
All school and family workshops are organised through parents, guardians or school staff who are required to be in attendance throughout. These follow our Teaching Online Safety Guidelines which you can request by emailing librarian@thelibraryofnature.com.
We follow and regularly update our Safeguarding Policy which you request by emailing librarian@thelibraryofnature.com.
We regularly attend courses and training to support these aspects of our work.
Platform Security
We have chosen the Squarespace platfrom to host this project as we believe it provides a safe and regularly updated secure system upon which to build our website. Please use these links to more about how your information is stored on our Privacy Policy, and more about the Squarespace security measures.
We will continue to monitor the security of our website, and if we have any concerns this could be improved we will move to a different platform.
Parental Responsibility
In using our website and its related activities you agree to the following:
You, or a designated responsible adult, should supervise at all times while the children under your care are using our website or its activities.
You, or a designated responsible adult, should supervise at all times while the children under your care are using any of our resources or are undertaking activities that are situated outdoors.
Where relevant we will introduce ideas of staying safe while exploring nature in our resources. However it is always the responsibility of the person who is under the duty of care for the children involved to judge whether activities are suitable for individual children, and to supervise all activities.
We hope that by all of us following the measures listed above, we can ensure The Library Of Nature is a safe space for everyone.
If you have any concerns about the safety of our website please get in touch using the form below and we will address these as soon as possible.
