The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics in the form of your name and email address contact details when you sign up to our mailing list.

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics in the form of your name, email address and phone number if you sign up to attend one of our online courses.

  • Anonymous data such as geographical location, age range, pages visited and duration of visit are collected by Squarespace Analytics to enable us to track the success of the project, and to meet the criteria of our funders.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • You have signed up to our mailing list.

  • You have signed up to participate in one of our online courses.

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • Your name and profile picture will be displayed and shared by Facebook with us our if you choose to follow our Facebook page ‘The Library Of Nature’ or our Facebook Group ‘Nature Illustrators’.

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • Send you updates and information about the project The Library Of Nature, and it’s related courses and products by email using Squarespace Marketing.

  • Share information about our upcoming Facebook Events via Facebook if you choose to follow the page The Library Of Nature or our Group ‘Nature Illustrators’.

We will share anonymous statistical information and anonymous information in the form of feedback quotes with Arts Council England as part of our funding requirements.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

(a) Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting Eleanor at librarian@thelibraryofnature.com.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored by Squarespace Marketing at www.thelibraryofnature.com.

We will store your name and email address until you ask to be removed from the mailing list. We will then dispose your information by deleting all your data from our marketing database.

Any information you submit to our Facebook page or groups is under your own responsibility and this data is stored by Facebook.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
